Andre Green playing for Aston Villa

Green has spent all of his footballing career at Villa Park up until this summer. The 22-year-old helped secure Villa promotion to the top flight in the 2018/19 campaign but fell completely out of favour and didn’t feature once for the Villains last season.

The young man has had a few loans in the past couple of seasons but struggled to make a significant impact on loan at Preston North End; his time on loan at Charlton Athletic last season wasn’t any better.

However, these unsuccessful loans haven’t put any potential suitors off, up to three teams are apparently interested in securing his services.

Another Championship side that has been on and off with an interest is Sheffield Wednesday. The departure of Tony Pulis could reignite their interest.

Even though Aston Villa took the decision to release Green last summer, the 22-year-old was highly rated throughout his time at Villa Park. He has 48 appearances to his name and former manager, Tim Sherwood, was a big admirer of his.

Sherwood said: “I love Andre and I’m surprised that he doesn’t have a club. He’s got ridiculous pace and goes past people like Ronaldo used to”.

A fresh start looks needed for Green to get going again and if he can get the love and trust from his manager then he could become a real hit in the Championship.
