Luton Town manager, Nathan Jones, has revealed that his side have the option to recall Peter Kioso in January.
The Hatters boss went on to say he wouldn’t have let the young defender go if he could see into the future.
Kioso, who is 21 years old, joined Bolton Wanderers on loan towards the end of the previous window.
The defender has been present in all of Bolton’s 12 games this season and has scored 2 goals for the Lancashire club. He’s taken on the role of an attacking wing-back in Bolton’s 3-5-2 system.
Kioso’s impressive form and Luton’s injury and suspension issues has led to fans asking whether he will be recalled in the January transfer window.
The Bolton boss has also confirmed that the deal does include a recall clause, before going on to say that it’s only in place up until a certain date.
Nathan Jones recently admitted that there is a good possibility of the clause being triggered but did also insist that he has no problems with Kioso staying at Bolton and gaining more experience along the way.
Speaking to a local newspaper, Jones said: “If necessary, the option is there.
“We’re not saying anything yet as there’s a long way to go and we want him to continue his development as he’s having a wonderful loan there and developing at a good club, so there’s no problem.”
He continued: “It’s just we have to monitor the situation constantly, because if we were to lose Matty Pearson and James Bree for example, then we would leave ourselves open.
“We haven’t got the scope to go and spend a load of money on another right back, so that’s when it will transpire, but we don’t know yet”.
Jones has made clear his satisfaction with Kioso’s performances, and the experience he is gaining, while on loan at Bolton. But, given the current circumstances at Luton Town, he would prefer to have the full back back at his parent club, where he would be of much use in a packed Christmas schedule.
