According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, Juventus are monitoring young Portuguese sensation Tomas Esteves, who is currently on loan at Reading from his parent club Porto.
The Portuguese youth international is on a season-long loan in the second tier of English football to help him develop as a player.
The 18-year-old has been a mainstay in the Royals’ line-up since his loan move and has made 20 appearances for them so far in this campaign. Esteves has shown his versatility by playing at right-back as well as right-midfield and has shown no problems whatsoever in bombing forward at times.
The report in Calciomercato claims that Bianconeri have shown substantial interest in the youngster and are keeping an eye on the prodigy. However, it will be interesting to see if the rumours develop into anything serious this summer.
The highly-rated defender is valued at €8m (£7.2m) and he has shown his quality on the pitch to justify the price tag.
The FC Porto man looks to have a promising future if he keeps on developing at this rate. Esteves has already made his Porto debut before making the loan switch to Berkshire – the full-back appeared three times for Porto’s senior side.
The reported Juventus target has featured consistently at the youth level for his country and has made 32 appearances for various levels of the Portuguese national team.
Somewhat surprisingly, Esteves has lost his position to academy graduate Tom Holmes in recent games.
Reading are in the hunt for promotion this season, currently sitting in 5th place after 29 games and Esteves can still play a significant role in their quest for promotion to the Premier League.
