Norwich City are currently top of the Championship and are looking for an immediate promotion back to the top-flight. According to a report in Yorkshire Live, Huddersfield midfielder Lewis O’Brien is on the radar of the Canaries.
Norwich are interested in signing the Huddersfield Town midfielder when the transfer window re-opens later this year and they are not the only team to be in the race for the youngster.
The East Anglian club join the race which also includes Championship high-flyers Brentford as well as Premier League side Burnley.
O’Brien, a Huddersfield Town academy graduate, was the player of the year for the Terriers last season and has made 25 appearances so far this term.
The dynamic midfielder has been in sparkling form for the Terriers since breaking into the team last season and while Huddersfield Town want to keep their star, a sizeable offer would prove too much to resist.
The 22-year-old is very gifted technically and just the type of hard-working player Daniel Farke would love to have in his team.
O’ Brien current deal runs until summer 2022, though the club have the option to trigger an extra year’s extension and that means the Championship strugglers won’t be desperate to sell their star at the end of this campaign. Of course, things could change this summer, and it will be interesting to see if Norwich and Brentford continue to pursue O’Brien should they achieve promotion to the top-flight.
It could be a situation whereby the choice of which club to join is down to the player. The division in which Norwich compete next season is likely to influence whether O’Brien joins or moves elsewhere.
