Swansea City are seven points adrift of Watford who currently lead the race to secure an automatic promotion spot.
Steve Cooper’s side are now on 75 points and have Wycombe Wanderers, Queens Park Rangers, Reading, Derby County and Watford still to play.
Swansea need just four points to seal a play-off place but Cooper admitted they haven’t given up hope of automatic just yet.
Watford, on the other hand, have the following fixtures still to play: Luton Town, Norwich City, Millwall, Brentford and Swansea.
The final day of the season is shaping up to be a good one. Swansea vs Watford – so what needs to happen in order for the race to go down to the wire?
Swansea need seven points to catch up to Watford. Beating Wycombe Wanderers, Queens Park Rangers and Derby County would see the Welsh side pickup nine points and take them to 84.
If Watford beat Luton and Millwall that would see them move to 86 points. Norwich will still want to secure the title which could prove to be a tough fixture for the Hornets. Swansea would need a favour from the Canaries and we could see it happen here.
Brentford and Reading are the two sides that could cause both Swansea and Watford issues. This is where the promotion race could be won or lost.
Cooper’s side need to avoid defeat at Madejski Stadium to keep their chances alive. This would seem more achievable than Watford’s task as they take on Thomas Frank’s Brentford.
If Swansea were to pick up a win over Reading and Watford failed to find three points against Brentford, this would see the Swans rise above the Hornets and set up a final day classic.
