Rhys Healey in action in Ligue 2 for Toulouse

According to TEAMtalk, Toulouse striker Rhys Healey is on the radar of many clubs in England.

Healey has played for teams like Cardiff City and Milton Keynes Dons in the Championship prior to moving to Southern France to join Toulouse last summer. Ex-Liverpool and Tottenham chief Damien Comolli oversaw the surprise deal which resulted in the French side paying more than £1million for his signature.

Comolli is now president of Toulouse and was the pioneer behind the bid for Healey, which caught many by surprise. However, the debate over whether the 26-year-old will adapt to life in France or not was quickly put to bed due to his brilliant form and very few people are questioning their president’s decision now. The Manchester-born striker is one of the top scorers in France’s Ligue 2 and his goal scoring prowess has helped Toulouse up to second in the table.

Healey has scored nine goals in 20 games and what makes the stat more impressive is that he just started 10 of those games. In Ligue 2, he has an impressive seven goals in 13 games.

As the striker is scoring for fun in France, clubs in his native country are taking a lot of interest in him. According to the report, West Brom and Middlesbrough are front runners but Sheffield United, Bournemouth and Norwich are also monitoring the situation with the hitman.

The hot goal scoring form of Healey has made Toulouse put up a price at around £5m for him. Toulouse can dictate the terms in terms of negotiations as the striker still has just over two years remaining on his deal and with promotion in their sights, teams will have to pay as per Toulouse’s demands.

The Toulouse hierarchy won’t make a decision on the striker’s future until the end of the season. The dynamic striker was named the Ligue 2 Player of the Month for December 2020 after he scored six goals in just five league games.
