Callum Styles has become a vital cog in Valerien Ismael’s Barnsley side. The 20-year-old midfielder’s performances this season have been key to keeping the Tykes in with an outside chance of making the play-offs.
Barnsley’s Championship rivals Brentford are one of the teams who are in race to sign the Bury-born player. However, many other teams are reportedly keeping tabs on Styles.
The Bees are said to be readying a bid to see if they can bring Barnsley to the table to discuss a potential move.
The former Bury starlet has been a regular starter in Gerhard Struber’s starting 11 since the end of last campaign. He has further enhanced his reputation with some excellent performances this campaign. He became a fan favourite for the Tykes faithful after his goal on the final day of last season kept them in the Championship.
Styles has reached new milestones this season for and has developed his game in the middle of the park, scoring three times and making three assists across 23 appearances in all competition.
The midfielder is contracted at the Oakwell until next summer. Barnsley have the option of triggering a further year extension which puts them in a strong negotiating position.
