According to The Athletic, Cardiff City are looking to sign Sheyi Ojo permanently in the summer window. The talented winger is currently on a loan spell with the Bluebirds and the club hierarchy are more than happy to sign the player permanently if Liverpool put the youngster on the transfer market.
The 23-year-old Ojo is in his seventh loan spell of his career and this season has been by far his most successful.
The Liverpool academy graduate is likely to leave Anfield in the summer, having struggled to break into the first team. Ojo has previously shown glimpses of his potential with Rangers last campaign and before that with Fulham. The youngster scored against Dutch giants Feyenoord in the Europa League and helped the Glasgow club into the last-16 of the competition in the last campaign.
The former England Under-21 international struggled to find consistent form in Glasgow under Steven Gerrard and wasn’t the first-choice winger for the entire campaign. However, fast forward to 2020/21 and he has shown a marked improvement in terms of consistency.
Ojo is now one of the most consistent players for the Bluebirds. He is widely regarded as one of Cardiff’s most important players following his move to the Cardiff City Stadium last summer.
The Liverpool loanee has scored four goals and provided six assists in 27 league appearances for his current employers.
The most important aspect of this transfer could be the fee as Cardiff City think they can pick him up for a modest price as he is behind the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Curtis Jones and Xherdan Shaqiri in the Reds pecking order and his future at the club looks bleak.
